Big Brother

It is still crazy to think that Nixon is the big brother now. Overnight he went from being our little boy to this ginormous kid. I remember the first night being home with both boys and I was so overwhelmed with emotions and realizing that Nixon is no longer my baby anymore. He is growing so fast and learning so much. He talks back, talks a lot, his favorite movie is Finding Nemo and would watch it all day/every day if I let him, asks to play games on the iPhone and iPad 24/7, counts to 12, sings his abc's and other nursery rhymes.
So the day after we brought Levi home Nixon became sick. He got Hand Foot and Mouth. He had a fever for 24 hours which was followed by his body breaking out in blisters. They covered his entire leg, went up his arms and were in his mouth as well. It was miserable. I felt so bad for my boy and there was no cure for it. It simply had to run its course and heal on it's own. There couldn't have been a more worse time for him to get this especially since it is very contagious. With just bringing Levi home we had to keep him quarantined to our room. We were terrified to let him go near Levi...and touch him? Not a chance. It was not the way I wanted their relationship to start either. We were in hospital mode here...sanitizing everything 24/7, pounding him with tylenol to help with the pain and soaking his body and keeping it covered.
During those days he was able to enjoy the iPad as much as he wanted.
He watched Nemo and his other favorites till his heart content.
And enjoyed LOTS and LOTS of daddy time. I don't know what I would have done without Tyler here. He seriously is the best. While I was getting up with Levi, he was getting up with Nixon several times and cleaning anything and everything. We lucked out big time and had him home for the first two weeks. It was amazing. Nixon and Tyler's relationship grew so much closer over this time as they went out and did things together during the day like going to the zoo and playing at the splash pad.
Everyone is good and healthy now. Nixon loves his brother and asks " I hold it (Levi)" and it melts my heart...and is then quickly followed with a "he's too heavy!". Tyler has since gone back to work and I have survived two days with these two kiddos. Its been good and I even had a nap today! I'm so grateful for these two sweet boys and my helpful husband. Life is good!
