Well it finally happened-my baby turned ONE! I can't believe it has been a whole year with this sweet kid in our lives! So we celebrated his birthday on Saturday, the day before his actual birthday, which just so happened to be my birthday! Yes, I was in labor with my child on my birthday and was grateful he came the day after. What kid would want to share his birthday with his mom!?
So as most of you know I have been planning Nixon's birthday party for a while now. I had to go big, he's my first! I was going for the whole "circus" theme and it all turned out just the way I imagined!

I think Tyler and I stayed up till almost 2am the day before the party. I was baking like a mad women. Seriously though, I was a mad women and became frustrated several times. His birthday cake was a beast to make and took a year and a half to bake, I made cake pops for the first time(wow), cupcakes and cheesecake cupcakes. In the end it was all yummy and I don't think I will eat frosting for the rest of my life! Tyler was up just as late working on Nixon's first year video that was playing throughout the party! This was something I have been really wanting seeing as how Tyler is a videographer and we take tons of video of Nixon. It was prefect and it will be something that I k now we will all love to look back at!

I know for myself I plan everything out in my head-how it will all look, the order it will go, how Nixon will enjoy every minute of it. But let's be honest. he's 1, things don't go according to plan with a 1 year old. So during the presents I imagined him loving opening them...WRONG. it was still fun though and he is absolutely loving all the fun toys he got.
He was either making this face above, or running away from me. I guess it was my birthday too, so I got to open all his presents!
And this pretty little gem is Nora! ADORABLE! We can only hope that one day she will be Nixon's girlfriend! Love Her!
Another item of business that didn't go according to plan was the eating of the birthday cake. I imagined Nixon to smash it, throw it all over the place, devour it...everything basically because that's what he does with his food ALL the TIME! I was wrong again. He wanted nothing to do with it so we took him out. All he wanted was a stinkin' sucker. So a sucker he got and he was loving life!
We decided to go for round two on his actual birthday and this time we had a success. He did just what I imagined and loved it!
Overall the party was a success and are so unbelievably grateful to all our amazing family and friends that came out to celebrate with us! We love you all!
Happy Birthday, Nixon!
