In one month my baby will be two. And in just 3 months Nixon will no longer be the baby of the family. It's amazing how quickly time flies by. This past month has been a big one for Nixon. That moment of realizing Nixon is actually a little boy happened. He got a major upgrade in beds. I wanted to make sure he was good and comfortable in his new bed before the new baby came along...especially since they will be sharing a room and I did NOT want two cribs in there. So i picked up a new twin bed set and did some rearranging/decorating(more pictures to come soon).
As soon as the bed was set up in his room he thought it was the coolest thing. After a day or two of the bed sitting there I thought I would slowly ease him into sleeping in it with just naps at first. After only taking two days worth of naps in it he INSISTED on sleeping in at night as well. It broke my heart a little when I walked in to see he totally fell asleep on his own without causing a single problem. The transition went way faster and easier than I thought. It's never a fight to get him to stay in bed. The first week he would randomly wake up in the middle of the night confused, but quickly got over that. I love having him be able to get out of bed on his own and come and find me and snuggle with me in my bed in the mornings.
Another thing I wanted to get Nixon used to was the toilet! woo hoo! It's potty training time! I really do not like the idea of having two children in diapers. We haven't gone full force on anything yet, just getting him used to and okay with the idea of sitting on the toilet at first. I think he thought it was going to swallow him.
His vocabulary is outrageous and is constantly saying new words each day with some three word combination's like "whats up dude". His new favorite word is "awesome" and says it when he does anything boyish like sending a rock flying through the air or pushing a car off the table.
He can count to 8, can identify several colors and shapes and his current favorite song to sing is "Jesus wants me for a sunbeam". Pretty sure we sing it 100 times a day...followed by "ABCs" and "Wheels on the bus"
Saying this kid is obsessed with my phone is an understatement. He works it like a pro to pull up his favorite shows and games.

He has become very independent and wants to do everything on his own like climbing into the car and car seat by himself, getting out of his booster chair, brushing his teeth and so on. Occasionally I'll get the "help please". He HAS to help me wash the dishes, sweep, vacuum and take out the garbage. Let's just hope this enthusiasm for helping with chores lasts another 12 years.
Kids are so fun at that age! Its honestly probably my favorite child "stage" -- right before the terrible two's.
