Living in Arizona, most of our Spring Breaks can be spent outside basking in the sun by the pool, resulting in a nice starter tan for the summer. This year we did quite the opposite. This year we planned a trip with Tyler's family to go to Colorado. We expected snow because we were planning to go snowboarding, but we didn't expect the amount of snow we were given. A storm was coming and we left right when it decided to hit us hard in Payson. A stretch that should have taken us 30 minutes turned into 3 hours. The snow was pouring down, you couldn't see the road and we nearly slid off, but we we made it to Colorado safely and the boys did surprisingly well. Uncle Dallin rode in the back with the boys and did most of the entertaining. Note to self: Bring babysitters on road trips.
With the snow storm hitting the day we got to Colorado, the following two days were spent just playing in all the fresh pow pow making a snowman and sledding. We didn't expect the snow to last around the resort all week long, but it sure did.
Nixon kept himself hydrated by eating the snow. Non stop.
Levi was a trooper being bundled up in his oompa loompa outfit.
The first day we did a little bit of sledding around the resort on a dinky hill. The next day we found a bigger hill with some speed and bumps. It was snowy and cold, but that didn't stop Nixon from catching some serious air going down this hill. He thought it was the funnest thing cruising down on those things and wouldn't take a break.
Sunday best
On Monday we left the kids with Grandma and Grandpa to hit up the slopes and shred the gnar!
Two years later I was so excited to get back on my snowboard! It was the most beautiful day; not cold and fresh snow. No one got hurt and it was a blast! Just like riding a bike.
After a day of snowboarding we decided to take it easy the next day. We took a little hike to see a frozen waterfall. A first for everyone.
The scenery there is so beautiful.
After the hike we did some more sledding, of course.
We found a little spot down off the side off the freeway, threw down a tarp and had ourselves a picnic in the snow.
Levi napped
And the boys built a jump
Everyone went snowboarding one more day and I decided to stay back with the boys. We spotted a hot air ballon going up right outside our window and took a dip in the jacuzzi.
The week flew by like that and on our way home we stopped in at the Four Corners for a few snapshots where Nixon felt it necessary to show off his goods.
We left snow and 50 degree Colorado days and headed home to a 90 degree Arizona day. Wuff.
